We sat down with Stacey Kontry, Director of Multifamily Management to talk about all things Friedman Communities. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Q: How long have you been with Friedman Communities and what is your role? <\/h4>\n

I have been with Friedman just over 4 years.  I started as a Regional Manager, and I spent a little over a year in that position.  I have been in a Director role going on 3 years.<\/p>\n

Q: What does your day-to-day look like? <\/h4>\n

My day-to-day every other week is busy!  I spend a lot of time preparing for client meetings, talking with clients, and reviewing reports.  That takes up a large portion of my time each week. The rest of my days are filled with providing support to the Regional Managers.  I spend a large amount of time in Yardi making sure everyone is operating properly and communicating with various departments and individuals.<\/p>\n

Q: What can you not work without? <\/h4>\n

My notebook.  Wherever I go, it goes with me every single day.  On Monday mornings I make a list of all my work; prep work, weekly recurring tasks, and then other things I am focusing on.  I’m always working off a running list.  On any given day you can see who I’ve talked to and what is going on. <\/p>\n

Q: What is your favorite day of the work week and why? <\/h4>\n

Thursday.  By Thursday I feel I’ve gotten through the bulk of my to-do list and it’s my time to really dig into other things, catch up on items I may be behind on, and prepare to wind down the week.  Even though Thursday is sometimes a longer day, I find it’s always a very productive day.  <\/p>\n

Q: Working in property management can be fast-paced, what is the most interesting part of your job? <\/h4>\n

The variety of properties I have is the most interesting part of my job.  Because I have so many different clients, I get to do a lot of large capital projects.  Many of my clients are interested in adding value.  I enjoy going to a property, evaluating the market, and figuring out where we can make suggestions to increase revenue.<\/p>\n

Q: What advice do you have for those managing a large team during a pandemic? <\/h4>\n

For anybody that has a large team, it’s important to put things in writing.  I found it is best to set expectations and the tone with clear communication.<\/p>\n

Q: In your opinion what makes Friedman Communities one of the top places to work? <\/h4>\n

Our resources and access to technology.  I utilize Skype, GoToMeeting, Teams, and my video phone daily.  I really capitalize on face-to-face interaction to help create relationships to be successful in my role.  The location is great, we have a well-equipped office, and I love the technology.<\/p>\n

Q: During your afternoon low how do you get through the day? <\/h4>\n

I don’t know if I would say I have an afternoon low, if I did, it’s probably 3 o’clock.  I keep snacks in my office cabinet.  Occasionally, I’ll enjoy an afternoon cup of coffee, but I look forward to the afternoon because I feel like the mornings and early afternoons are so busy with meetings that by the time 3 o’clock hits, I’m almost there.<\/p>\n

Q: Describe Friedman culture in your own words. <\/h4>\n

I think Friedman culture is fast-paced.  The people that work here hustle and work hard.  Our culture is structured, but a lot of intrapreneurship goes into our everyday.  You encounter people who have different ideas and that makes it very collaborative and diverse. <\/p>\n

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to a future Friedman Communities employee what would it be? <\/h4>\n

My advice would be, you have to love to hustle and enjoy a fast-paced environment. Some days are slower, but in general, the property management industry requires a sense of urgency.  A Sense of Urgency is one of our most important values.  If you love to hustle, this is the place for you.<\/p>\n
